Precertify your International Health Insurance Claim

The precertification process administered by International Medical Group, Inc. and its subsidiary Akeso Care Management ACM is a URAC accredited international health care management company specializing in the complete spectrum of domestic and International Medical Management Services.

Unfortunately a significant portion of health care services are either medically unnecessary, redundant or performed in an inappropriate setting. ACM’s multi-lingual medical management program will reduce the cost of health care while positively impacting quality.

By using established national medical guidelines, ACM evaluates the medical necessity for hospitalizations and outpatient services and the appropriateness of the overall treatment plan to meet the specific health care needs of the individual. Precertification is a good idea because the process has a great impact on health care costs while increasing overall patient satisfaction.

Precertification is not a guarantee of payment nor is it a denial. It remains the insured person's responsibility to verify benefits with in our customer care department. All conditions and provisions of the insured person's certificate of insurance apply.

How to File your International Health Insurance Claim

• Direct Payment to Providers
  In many cases IMG works directly with the hospital or clinic, including those outside our independent Preferred Provider Organization, for payment of eligible medical expenses. To file a claim, complete the International Health Insurance Claim Form and submit it with original itemized bills. In this case, you will be responsible for your deductible, coinsurance amounts and non-eligible expenses. You can also use this IMG Interactive Claim Form (123 kb). Microsoft Word is required to use the interactive form.

• Reimbursement
  If you have received treatment and need to be reimbursed for out-of-pocket medical expenses, complete the International Travel Health Insurance Claim Form and submit your original itemized bills and paid receipts within 90 days. We will reimburse your eligible medical expenses after applying the deductible and coinsurance.
  Please remember to submit your bills and receipts as soon as you receive them. Do not hold them until the end of the year. IMG will apply eligible medical expenses to your deductible and coinsurance throughout the year.
